Carters was established as an accounting practice
in Glenrothes in 1964. As one of Scotland's "new towns" the 1960's and
1970's saw tremendous economic growth in the area with many new businesses starting
up or relocating to the area.
This has given the practice the ethos of dealing with new and
growing businesses to the extent we do not involve ourselves, for example, in
receivership or liquidation work. We hope that our involvement with our clients
will avoid that eventuality and indeed many of our clients have become very successful
and we are now seeing a number of cases where we are dealing the next generation
of business owners. This is very satisfying but to avoid complacency we always
looking at new ways of delivering services and the range of proactive services
we offer to our clients.
The firm has placed great emphasis on the use of information technology
and continues to make significant investment in our in house systems. Many of
our clients have similarly computerised and now reap the benefits from that investment.
We believe that there is a knowledge gap in many small and medium
sized enterprises. They cannot afford full-time financial expertise but would
really benefit and value someone answering their day-to-day problems. We can fill
this gap by becoming a virtual Financial Director.
